what's up wednesday new graphic

It’s the last Wednesday of the month. I am linking up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer and sharing what has been going on with us lately. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.

1. What We Are Eating This Week:

Sunday: We ate at Mom & Dad’s house. BBQ Ribs, Corn on the Cobb, Baked Beans, Fried Okra & Patriotic Cake

Monday: Smash Burgers & Homemade Fries

Tuesday: Chicken & Spinach Tortellini Bake

Wednesday: Leftover Ribs

Thursday: Leftover Chicken Bake

Friday: Celebrating my Papa’s 95th birthday!

Saturday: Kitchen’s closed!

2. What I’m Reminiscing About:

Look at these sweet memories….

These were from 2020.

Here are some Mother’s Day & Dance Recital memories from 2021 & 2022.

These Kindergarten Graduation memories from 2023 are hard.

And this memory was proof that we had no fun at all. Haha!

3. What I’m Loving:

These Bamboo Sheets from Quince are amazing!! I promise you they keep me cool at night and feel like buttah. I honestly feel like I need to buy a few more sets.

4. What We’ve Been Up To:

We started off the month heading to the strawberry patch with the Diamond family.

I enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day.

We had a fun girl’s day out shopping!

I had a not-so-fun skin procedure completed. I still have stitches but did get back clear margins this time. Yay!

We had a fun last few days of school including some more dress up days.

We were excited that Emma came to walk the halls of her Elementary school.

Milo got another trim. The bowtie didn’t last long. Milo: 1, Bowtie: 0.

Addison had a special Award’s day, and we were so proud of all her accomplishments.

We cheered her on this past weekend at her Spring Dance Recital. She did so awesome! I’ll share more in a later post.

We also cheered Emma on this past weekend at her High School Graduation! So proud!

5. What I’m Dreading:

I’m not really dreading anything right now. 😉  Excited for Summer!

6. What I’m Working On:

I’m working on tidying up the house. I feel like now is the time to get it in order.

7. What I’m Excited About:

I am really excited about all the fun things we have planned.

8. What I’m Watching/Reading:

Earlier this month, I finished The Last Letter. It was goooood!!! So, so good! It was heart wrenching, some mystery, a little love story…it was great! I did not want to put it down.

Beckett,

If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.

I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.

My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.

And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.

So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.

Please don’t make her go through it alone.

The Last Letter

I am now reading Great Big Beautiful Life, and I am very much enjoying it! It’s cute and there’s tension between two main characters. I’m sure it will be very predictable, but I guess we will see.

Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: to write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the twentieth century.

When Margaret invites them both for a one-month trial period, after which she’ll choose the person who’ll tell her story, there are three things keeping Alice’s head in the game.

One: Alice genuinely likes people, which means people usually like Alice—and she has a whole month to win the legendary woman over.

Two: She’s ready for this job and the chance to impress her perennially unimpressed family with a Serious Publication.

Three: Hayden Anderson, who should have no reason to be concerned about losing this book, is glowering at her in a shaken-to-the core way that suggests he sees her as competition.

But the problem is, Margaret is only giving each of them pieces of her story. Pieces they can’t swap to put together because of an ironclad NDA and an inconvenient yearning pulsing between them every time they’re in the same room.

And it’s becoming abundantly clear that their story—just like the tale Margaret’s spinning—could be a mystery, tragedy, or love ballad . . . depending on who’s telling it.

9. What I’m Listening To:

Nothing right now.

10. What I’m Wearing:

I ordered a few things from Shop Avara, and they have all been great!

Look how fun these shorts are! Now if the weather would just cooperate, so I could wear them.

This dress is gorgeous! Look at the colors and the pattern. I love the tie sleeves. It’s perfect for summer!

The pattern on this dress is also gorgeous! I love the rich blue with all the other tropical colors. I will warn you that this dress has a deep v in the front. So, if you’re self conscious of that, you may skip this one.

And this perfect, gorgeous Gauze top is great! It’s the perfect material.
