**Friday Favorites** {7.9.2021} This is 36!

Hey guys! Happy Friday!

Today, I’m linking up with the blogs AlittlebitofEverything and Momfessionals. But today’s post is going to look a little different.

We are back home after a week at the beach. Today, is my birthday! I am going to be sharing 36 random things with you that you may or may not already know about me. Some of them are favorites. Some of them are not favorites for me.

This is 36! (Which I can’t believe is already here, btw)

  1. I despise pickles. Especially dill pickles. I hate the smell of them, and I get really upset when places put them beside/below my sandwich/burger. The bread soaks up all the juice, and it makes me gag.

2. I learned how to drive on a farm and in the woods behind my house. I would drive my Papa’s old truck, or my Dad had a little Bronco 2. I also had a dune buggy, so I drove that a lot too.

My parents bought me a 2002 yellow Ford Mustang for my 17th birthday. They always told me if I got good grades, worked hard, and didn’t do anything to get arrested, ha!, they would provide me a car for college. So, I did. The day we went to pick it up at the dealer. It was playing “Mustang Sally” when they pulled it around.

I really need to knock on wood after writing this one, but I pride myself for my driving skills. If you’ve ridden with me before, you know I like to drive fast. However, I’ve had many people tell me they’ve always felt safe with me, and they like when I drive. I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket, and I’ve never been in a wreck (***knock on wood******).

This was when someone put post-it notes all over my car and pickles on the antenna.

3. When I was about 14 years old, on vacation with my family, I was walking on one of those concrete picnic tables (not a good idea). It wasn’t stable or cemented down. It flipped while I was walking on it, and I fell down and my front teeth dug into it. It put a small crack up my front teeth- luckily they didn’t chip or bust. I couldn’t eat much after that on the vacay. They were ok for a little while, but then one of the roots began to die. (very painful) I had to have a root canal. I now have a fake front tooth (veneer).

4. I went to a military college, but I wasn’t in the military. When I stayed in the dorms, we could hear the guys doing drill every morning. I loved my little college town and all the experiences/traditions of going to school there.

5. I can change a tire if I had to. In college, my car got a flat tire. Like you just read, I went to a military college. And can you believe it, nobody offered to help me change the tire in the parking lot that day. That’s alright though, I got it done.

6. I changed my degree many times. I started out ‘Undecided’, then decided I wanted to be a nurse practitioner. After taking a lot of the science classes for nursing, I found out real quick it wasn’t for me. So, I changed my major to Early Childhood Education. This put me a little behind, so I graduated in 5 years.

7. During college, I met some amazing friends. Caroline, Britney, Katy, Haley, Anna, Kara… the list goes on and on. Going to a small college and living in a small college town, there wasn’t a lot to do. One night, Caroline, Haley, and I got a bright idea to go “mudding” in Caroline’s Jetta. Needless to say, we had a blast and laughed our butts off. I will never forget it!

8. Joey, and I went to the same high school. He was 2 years older than me. I was good friends with his sister, who was my age, but I never really met/talked with him. We met when I was 26. His Mom and my Aunt Dot worked at the same elementary school, so they kind of set us up. 😉

9. I met some famous country singers while in my early 20s. My roommate at the time had a cousin who worked for one of the popular country stations in Atlanta. Kicks 101.5. He was always getting us backstage passes, which was so awesome! We had a lot of great times! We met Gary Allan, Miranda Lambert, Randy Houser, and the Eli Young Band.

10. Also, since her cousin worked for the station, they recorded me, her, and my friend Katy separately advertising for the station. For about a year, you could hear one of us saying something like “I get my Kicks on Kicks 101.5”. Ha! It was always fun when people would call/text me and say, “I just heard you on the radio”.

11. I have moved 10 times in my life. 9 of those were after high school.

12. Growing up, I never liked/enjoyed reading. Now, I love it!

13. During my childhood, I always played some type of sport. I did gymnastics, took ballet/tap/jazz/pointe for 13 years. I played soccer for 8 years and basketball for 7 years. It all kept me very busy.

14. I have natural blonde hair. It’s a golden color, so I get brightening highlights in it, but it is natural.

15. I am about to start year 14 of teaching. It really does fly by. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. I have my Master’s in Early Childhood Education. I have my Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. I am ESOL, Gifted, and Reading Endorsed. Lots of School. 😉 The last 13 years, I have taught Special Education. This next year, I am starting a new role as an EIP (Early Intervention) teacher! I am very excited!

16. I am a little bit of a clean freak. When the shortage on Clorox Wipes was going on, I wasn’t doing well mentally. Ha! I feel like I’m constantly wiping something down. Now, even though I’m clean, I do have a system of organized chaos. I have random things/piles lying around on my counters. I don’t know what to do with it, so I just tidy up the stack. 😉

17. I am very Type A: like to plan/calendar. I have a calendar on my wall that I color coordinate for all the things we have going on. Everybody is a different color. I am pink. Addison is purple. Joey is blue. Other things are usually black unless I feel as if it should be a different color. I have a Happy Calendar I use at school. I use my Microsoft Outlook Calendar for scheduling appointments and meetings at school.

18. I love Ranch dressing. I eat it on so many things. If I order fries at a restaurant, I don’t want ketchup, I want a side of ranch. I am all about homemade ranch dressing.

19. My Love Language has changed over the years, but the most recent assessment said I was 40% Acts of Service. I will definitely agree with this.

20. I like to cook/bake. During the school year, it’s hard for me to get creative, but it does my heart good when I have a home cooked meal on the table for my family to enjoy.

21. I love the Beach. Well, really any water: pool, lake, etc… However, I do not want to get in a lake. It really grosses me out. My favorite though, is the beach. I aim to go at least 3-4 times a year. I wish we lived closer.

22. My favorite color is pink. Is that shocking to you all?

23. After taking an Enneagram Test Online, it says I am most likely an Enneagram 2 and if taking wings into account, I’m a 2w3. A 2 is considered a Helper: The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing. A 3 is considered The Achiever: The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic: Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven and Image-Conscious. I guess so. Ha!

24. I got married when I was 27. I know some people consider that an old maid, but it worked out just perfectly! 😉

25. We/Joey (he was the contractor and did so much of the hard labor) built our house when I was 29. It was very stressful making all of those decisions! I can hear Joey fussing as he’s reading this because he did most of the heavy lifting. He did the planning, clearing of the land, electrical/wiring, a lot of the HVAC/ductwork, siding, hung all the lighting, trim work, and I’m sure lots more, I just can’t remember. I painted (along with other of my family members), put on door knobs, and made lots of designing decisions.

This was my role. Hahaha!

26. I had Addison when I was 31. I had a wonderful, easy pregnancy for the most part. The actual birth was traumatic. I’ll save that story for another day. 😉 Sweet baby was all bruised up and had a black eye.

27. I worked at CFA for about 5 years. I started working at 15, 2 months before my 16th birthday. It was a fun job! I even received a $1000 scholarship from them.

28. I have an addiction to chewing gum. My favorite is Spearmint flavored Extra. I do not like Peppermint or Cinnamon flavored gum. I feel like it burns my mouth.

29. I don’t like bugs or anything creepy crawly. I have to really talk myself up to killing/trapping any kind of bug. I can’t stand anything slithery or slimy like a snake or lizard. My worst nightmare is to have something fall on me while I’m sleeping at night. I would die!

30. I have broken toes before, but I don’t really consider that a broken bone. I did break my pointer finger a few years ago. It’s funny now, but at the time, it was not funny. I was doing car rider duty at school. Who knew it could be so dangerous?! I put this student in the SUV. I went to close it, and he grabbed the door before me. My hand/finger was still in the open door area. The car slammed on my finger. It hurt so bad! The parent tried to start driving off. I yelled to stop, so I could open the door and retrieve my finger. It was hurting really bad. I felt like I was going to pass out! I ended up going to the doctor, and it was broken. I had to do physical therapy for like 10 weeks. Crazy! So, if you’re doing car-rider duty, be careful and aware at all times!

31. Joey calls me a big time sucker.. if anyone tells me about an awesome product that they love or something that they can’t live without, I usually am going to fall for it. He tells me that I’ve tried probably 30 different health/beauty/anything product, and we’ve probably spent about $10,000 on them. Ha! What’s bad is, he’s not wrong. He said I’d buy ocean front property in Arizona. 😉

32. I am very dependent on my Mama. I call her about anything and everything and value her opinion. If ever there’s an issue, I always call Mom. Every morning, on the way to school, I call her.

33. My parents live about 2 miles from us. Joey’s Mom lives about 3 miles from us, and his Dad lives probably 5 miles from us. We are all so close, and it’s great!

34. I am very ticklish, and Joey and Addison know just where to get me.

35. One of my pet peeves is chewing and smacking with their mouth open when eating. I almost have to leave the table if it’s happening. Even sometimes the way people chew and drink something bothers me. Crazy, I know.

36. I have the worst memory. When I was younger, I used to remember everything. But then in my early 20s, I just forgot everything. However, I do remember weird things. Like, I remember directions if I have been somewhere before. I can also tell you what I wore to eat at a certain restaurant, at the beach, 5 years ago and what song was playing on the way there,  but I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night. Ha! Anyone else?

That’s it! I can’t believe I made it through the list and you did too! Thank you so much for reading and following along with me! I started this blog because I love reading and following other bloggers. I thought some people might like to do the same about me. 🙂

Have a fun-filled weekend!
