**New York City! Girls Trip! Part I**{1.22.2025}
Happy Wednesday!! Today is a big post Wednesday! I’m sharing Part I of my girl’s trip to NYC! So fun!
This was a trip that we planned a few years ago to celebrate Britney turning 40. However, one of us got pregnant, Caroline, and we had to put it off a year. We started finalizing plans last summer and booking hotel and flights. It finally arrived, and Brit and I took off on Friday, December 27th from ATL headed to LGA. We were giddy!
Our flight landed right before lunch, and we ubered to our hotel to drop off our luggage a little after 12. Caroline and Amanda had arrived earlier that morning, so we were excited to meet up with them and start our day. A little background- Brit and I went to high school together but didn’t really know each other too well. We went on to college at North Georgia and that’s where we met Caroline. Caroline was my Maid of Honor, and we lived together during our early 20s. Amanda married one of our funny college friends, Jordan, and we hadn’t ever really hung out. But this grouping was great!
We headed down 6th avenue toward Central Park direction. We stayed in a great location at the Springhill Suites Midtown Manhattan/Fifth Avenue location.
I snapped a few pics. We moved over and grabbed some pictures as we went into Times Square.
We made a joke that came up throughout the trip that Moms never get pictures of themselves. We dubbed these as our funeral pictures, so we could share these at our funerals.
So, if you see pictures where we are by ourselves, think of this as our ‘funeral picture’. Hahaha!
Here is Britney.
We walked toward Stardust Diner and were hopeful to be able to get in. We were a little scared because the line was long. However, it moved very fast, and we were in within about a 30 minutes wait.
The talent was amazing!! These are aspiring Broadway singers and some have made it on Broadway. They were so, so good! If you have a chance to go, go!
We left there and headed back through Times Square and on to Macys. It was beautifully decorated!
Side note: I had not ever been to New York during Christmas, and I would definitely recommend it!
And me with my funeral pic. 😉
There was also a cute, little Christmas market set up in front of the store. It was adorable, and I loved it so much!
The inside of Macys was gorgeously decorated. We made it all the way to the top- 9 floors. The original wooden escalators were so neat.
We got a little Macy’s ornament for a souvenir and were on our way.
After Macys, we were close to our hotel, so we wanted to see if our room was ready. We got settled in and freshened up a bit.
While in there, we had another big laugh. Britney has never been to New York and looking out our window she says, “You guys, I think we are right beside a famous building”. Only looking straight out our window and not up, I reply, “Britney, I think that’s just some unnamed building. Like maybe an apartment building.” She says really??
That’s when I look up and see that we are very close to the ‘Empire State Building’. We all had a really huge laugh and referred to it as the unnamed building quite often.
We got bundled up and headed for a walk down 5th Avenue. I snapped a lot of pics along the walk toward our dinner reservations.
I wish we would have had time to go inside the library.
I actually thought the Saks decorations were gorgeous! Almost more beautiful than Macys.
We were very excited to snap a pic of the NBC building where Hoda and Jenna are filmed. Too bad they weren’t filming while we were there on the weekend.
Then, there it was! Rockefeller center, and the beautiful tree! So, so crowded!
-We left and headed back up 5th Avenue snapping more pics.
-St. Patrick’s Cathedral
-Cartier
– Tiffany’s
-Trump Towers
-Louis Vuitton (so awesome all wrapped up like luggage)
-Bergdorf Goodman
– The Plaza hotel
We turned the corner and headed down to the original Serendipity 3, where the movie Serendipity was filmed.
Oh my goodness! It was adorable and so charming. We were in awe the entire time. It was so teeny tiny. Much smaller than we anticipated.
We weren’t extremely hungry which made it perfect for sharing some salads and starters.
Plus, we had to get a Frozen Hot Chocolate, and we were so glad we did! Delish! I still fantasize about this! I would 100% recommend doing this!
And we walked back over to the Plaza and then grabbed an uber to head back to the hotel. We had a successful first day and had another full day set for Saturday. So, we were ready for a little bit of rest.
Saturday morning, we got up and ready and headed down to a French bakery on the corner. Oh so cute!
The weather was yuck, but we tried not to let it deter us. We just bundled up and took our umbrellas.
We ubered down to the point. to walk around the Financial district. We thought we may have time to ride the Ferry out to the Statue, but it was so foggy, we really weren’t going to be able to see anything. So, we decided to put that off a bit.
We walked by the Stock Exchange and saw the girl.
We snapped a pic with the famous bull.
I snapped a pic with another Trump Building. You can see the weather was yuck.
My Bergen Tom’s boots were perfect though. Fuzzy warm and water resistant. My feet stayed dry. Unfortunately, my color is really slim on sizes. However, there are still most sizes available in the Black and Brown.
I also had on my fleece lined leggings and thick Winter socks, and they were perfect as well!
We headed the other direction to see
It was gorgeous inside! We stayed a few minutes, took bathroom breaks and dried off a bit.
We had 11:00 reservations for the 9/11 museum. I’m so glad we had tickets because it was crowded to buy tickets at the door.
Even though it was rainy, we were still able to get some pictures of the memorial outside. It was so moving to be standing there.
When we entered, it was busy, but they got us through security pretty quickly. The pictures and items, from that day just gave us chills.
I had no idea how massive this museum was. We could’ve spent hours and hours here.
Chills… everything is like frozen in time from that day.
This wall was so neat. It was supposed to be a representation of what people thought the sky color was that morning.
These pieces were chilling. And just hearing the stories and the videos and calls. It just gets to you.
We went into this one area that pictures weren’t allowed. That area was very overwhelming.
I snapped one more picture before we headed back up and outside. We were hoping the rain had slacked.
Nah.. not really. This was in the uber on the way back toward our hotel. Britney was starting to feel a little dizzy and wanted to lie down for a bit.
Amanda, Caroline, and I dropped her off and headed out on foot for some Joe’s pizza.
Again, the line was long, but it moved quickly. So good! So authentic!
I grabbed a cream puff at another bakery on the way back for a sweet treat. It was just okay. It looked better than it tasted. 🙂
We took Brit a treat back, but she still didn’t feel well. Sadly, she felt like she had to decline our dinner festivities. We were sad but understood.
We had 4:00 tickets to see The Radio City Rockettes. We booked it fast from our hotel. Made it there by 3:50, and they hadn’t even started opening the doors! There was a huge line, and everyone had to go through security. We were stressed!
After running up many flights of stairs and very much out of breath, we were finally inside Radio City Hall!! It was magical! I think I cried a couple times. They were very strict about no phones during the show, so I have no pics to share. If you have a chance to go, go!
The gorgeous lobby looking down.
Back outside. It was crowded and yucky weather!
We migrated back toward Rockefeller center.
We wanted to go inside FAO Schwartz, but the line was LONG! And we didn’t have time to wait hours.
We had dinner reservations at Trattoria Del’Arte. It was very quaint and adorable inside.
I snapped a few pics of our meal. I got the Chicken Parmigiana. Amanda got the Lobster Truffle pasta. I’m not sure what Caroline ordered, but we all shared.
And that’s it for Days 1 & 2 of our trip! Be on the lookout for the 2nd post in a week or so.
Hope you’re having a great week! See ya on Friday!
