Happy Friday!!!! Even though we had a 4 day work week, it felt like a long one. Why does that always happen?!?
I’m linking up with the blogs AlittlebitofEverythingand Momfessionals and sharing some of my favorite things from the week!!
Today, I’m sharing about our little getaway camping trip last weekend. Anytime we get to go away for a little family trip, it’s always a favorite! We left out right after work on Friday and headed North, towards Gatlinburg, for the long weekend. On the way up there, we ran through some really heavy rain. It delayed us a little bit, but we finally arrived around 8:30. Here’s little bit reading Shiver me Letters on the drive up.
The next morning Addison was up around 6 and so excited to get outside and play. Chef Joey cooked some breakfast on the griddle. We went for a little walk and Addison played on the playground. We tried to still stay away from people as much as we could.
There were lots of little streams around the campground.
We rode around a little bit and got some ice cream for an afternoon snack. On the way there, this was stretched across the road. It was such an awesome sight. #proudtobeanamerican
Our campground had a water slide down the mountain. We promised Addison that we would let her slide when we got back. I chickened out and Joey took Addison down. She had a blast! She kept wanting to go over and over. Joey, not so much! Ha!
Then we let her get in the pool for a few minutes. It was so cold!
After all the excitement, we went back to the camper. Addison and Joey napped. I read and finally finished my book, The Lies that Bind. I can’t wait to discuss that one. 😉
After nap time, we played a little bit and Addison flew her kite.
I started cooking. We had burgers, grilled onions, chili and chips. #keepingitsimple
For dessert, Joey built a fire, and we had smores. There’s not many things that are better than watching a fire.
I love my camo leggings from Amazon. You can find them here. These things were my quarantine go-to pants. They are high-waisted and so comfy. They don’t roll down like some leggings do. They even have a pocket for my phone. I can’t say enough about these leggings. Go get ya some! 😉
Does anyone else like their marshmallow burnt? I cook it until it’s flaming, then I blow it out, and stick it back in the fire. I want mine totally burnt. Anyone else?
The next morning, we went to eat breakfast. Pancakes are where it’s at. 🙂
We rode around the streets of Gatlinburg but never actually got out of the truck. I just want to see people. I miss people. Ha!
When we got back to camp, Addison wanted to do the little zip line.
She napped, I ended up washing my hair and getting ready. We left camp around 3 to ride over to Pigeon Forge for the afternoon. We went to the Old Mill and grabbed some Apple Butter. Then ate at Local Goat. It was delicious! She did not want her picture taken…. #sigh
We got up Monday morning, packed up and headed back to GA. We had a great trip, but it’s always so sad when it’s over.
If you missed my Let’s Look on Wednesday, where I took you down memory lane with some awesome school pics, check them out here. 😉

One last thing before I go, I can’t let today go by without speaking a word about 9-11. I remember the day so vividly. I was sitting in 10th grade Current Events class when the teachers started getting fidgety and starting whispering among themselves. It was an eery feeling. They turned on the TV and actually let us all watch together. I will never forget the feeling of sadness that I had in my heart for all those people. A day to remember and honor those we lost. A day to be thankful for those who serve our country. I will Always Remember. Never Forget. <3
That’s it for today’s favorites. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I hope ours has some sort of apples involved. 😉
That sounds like a fun trip! I haven’t been to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge area since I was in grade school but I do remember it being a real fun trip. I’m not a bit fan of marshmallows but if I’m going to eat them they need to be nice and burnt.

That town looks so cute!
I remember that day so well too. I was in college and only heard it on the radio first. So scary not to see it on TV for a few hours.

Yes, I know. I’m not a huge fan of them either. I can’t stand Peeps. But, give me a burnt marshmallow for a smore, and I’m game! Haha! Happy Weekend!
