Weekend Recap {7.20.19} – Dollywood

We had a great, long weekend! It was a last hoorah before I start back to school this week. It always makes me sad, but I love a routine. So, once I get back in the groove it’s not too bad.

We took off Thursday around lunchtime to go camping at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We have season passes to Dollywood, so we want to make sure we get our money’s worth.

We got up there and set up just in time to go grab some pizza. Then, we hit up Krispy Kreme. I know someone who wasn’t disappointed. 😉

After dinner, we still had a little time before bedtime, so we hit up the playground at the campground. It wasn’t too hot and not very humid. We had fun!  She especially loved the jumpy pillow.

Joey, the big kid, had fun too!

After the playground, they wanted to get into the river. I stayed on the bank.

The next morning, we got up bright and early. We made a quick breakfast at camp. Joey’s Mom and family drove up that morning. They came on to the campground and played for a few. Then, we headed to Dollywood.

They played musical instruments….

She loved these frogs. They jumped really high. It was hilarious!

We went inside the playground a little bit to get cooled off. It was a nice little reprieve.

Teacups… Don’t mind me, it was about 105 degrees in the shade.

A storm started coming up right after this. We were going to stay for the fireworks, but we were afraid we were going to get drenched struck by lightning. So, we decided to make a run for it and try for fireworks the next night.

We got up early again, but this day we went a little slower and easier. We went and ate breakfast then went to a couple stores at Tanger outlets.

We didn’t care about shopping or doing anything else that day. We had planned to go back to Dollywood that evening, so we hung out at the pool for a little while.

Addison and Emma weren’t disappointed.

Another thunderstorm came up that afternoon, so we did some napping, and I did some reading. It was glorious!

We went to the Applewood Restaurant at the Apple Barn for dinner. Everything apple had me dreaming about Fall.

We left there and went to Dollywood to see the lights and fireworks.

The tree was so beautiful lit up at night…. Funny story, as we were sitting watching the fireworks, Joey’s Mom and sister yelled “skunk” and jumped up! There was a skunk right behind them. It was hilarious once they had moved. We were just thankful they didn’t get sprayed.

We had the best time at Dollywood! It wasn’t very crowded, and even though it was HOT, because we didn’t have to wait on the rides, it wasn’t miserable.

If you’ve never been, I would highly recommend it. It’s very clean and well-maintained. A nice family- friendly place for everyone!

See you on Wednesday!!
