Happy Wednesday!!! I can’t believe it’s already October! Where did September go?
Today, I’m sharing Part I of our Fall Break beach getaway to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
It had been many years since I had been there, so it was exciting to get to go back. We left early Saturday morning and arrived around noon. This was great because we felt like we almost had an extra day of fun!
Our cute, little condo was perfect for us! It had a great view of the ocean, from the balcony and a short walk across the dunes to the beach.
We rented bikes because we didn’t want to have to carry our bikes from home. This was ideal! In Hilton Head there are bike/walking trails everywhere! Literally every road has a paved path beside it. It’s flat, and just easy to get around on bike.
Once we dropped our things off, we headed to the Coligny shopping plaza area to check some of the shops out and grab an iced coffee.
Then we headed back to walk on the beach for a short bit. We didn’t want to walk too long because we had dinner reservations that evening, and we wanted to head over a little early to check out some shops.
Our dinner reservations were in the gated, Sea Pines, area. You have to pay to enter this area if you aren’t staying in here. It’s worth it though because there are lots of great shops, restaurants, and views.
We loved looking at all the boats and yachts on the harbor.
We walked around some of the shops then the “kids” played on the playground for a few minutes before our dinner reservations at the……
Crazy Crab! I ate here about 15 years ago on a girl’s trip, and it was still just as fun!
After dinner, we rode back to Coligny Plaza for some ice cream. Ice cream was on the schedule for lots of nights on this trip! Haha!
After getting our sugar overload, we headed out for a walk and some goofing around on the beach. We were happy for that salty air.
Sunday morning, we were up around 7:30, and I enjoyed watching the sun rise over the ocean.
Joey & Addison headed off on a bike ride, and I headed to Duck Donuts to grab some more sugar. These are always best right away because they are warm.
After eating some breakfast, we headed out to the beach for a bit.
This shrimp boat came by, and it was very close to the shore! There were so many birds.
We walked up to the Tiki Hut, and Joey and I grabbed an Iced Coffee.
Mom, Aunt Dot & I visited this tiki hut about 18 years ago. That was a very fun, memorable trip! I had to send them a pic for a throwback.
Then we headed back for a little bit more playing.
We didn’t stay long because we had already planned to drive to Savannah to see our good friend’s daughter Reese and take her to dinner.
I haven’t been to Savannah in a while either, so we enjoyed walking around along the cobblestone streets.
These streets are tricky and would definitely not be recommended in heels. Savannah is very old and has so much history! It’s a beautiful city. The River Street is very cool!
I went in College during St. Patrick’s day, and they used to color the Savannah River green. So wild!
Here we are with sweet Reese!
This HUGE…. I mean ENORMOUS barge ship came down the river. I couldn’t believe how massive this thing was. The pictures really don’t do this justice on how large this ship was!
After dinner… guess what we had?!? Ice Cream! Haha! Delicious!! All these sweets looked and smelled so good! The apples looked so unreal!
This vet rode through River street over and over blasting music. It was touching.
I remember these steps during my St. Patrick’s day trip. I honestly don’t know how I survived them. Bahaha… I decided to err on the side of caution and walk up the street versus attempting these extremely steep stairs. I didn’t want to be falling again. Reese and I decided on the street route.
And that wraps up our first few days! Happy October!!
See ya back on Friday!

This was fun to read. We went to Hilton Head in August with both girls and their families and we had such a great time. I hadn’t been in years and remembered how much I love it there. My hubs kept asking if we should consider relocating there when we downsize again someday. We stayed in Palmetto Dunes but did go to Harbortown one night and we ate at the Crazy Crab. In a funny small world kind of thing a family was seated beside us, a mom with her three kids and her parents. We realized we knew the parents…my husband worked with the dad in the mid-90’s and we used to do a lot of things together outside of work. It was so much fun to run into them as we haven’t seen them in decades. Did you go to Skull Creek? That’s one of our favorites.
Oh wow!! That is a small world! We did not make it to Skull Creek. We had heard that was a good dinner option, but we just didn’t have enough time. I will add it to our list for next time!!
