It’s the last Wednesday of the month. I am linking up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer and sharing what has been going on with us lately. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
1. What We Are Eating This Week:
Sunday night we came in from vacation, so it was just a hodge podge of whatever we had.
Sunday: Leftover Pizza, Chicken Wings, pasta salad (see below), chips
Monday: Chicken Casserole, Rice, Sautéed Zucchini/Squash from the garden, I made a No Bake Key Lime Pie
Tuesday: Ham, White Northern Beans, Fried Potatoes (Soul food) 😉

Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Out to eat
Saturday: Kitchen’s closed! Going to the Rome Braves Game
2. What I’m Reminiscing About:
All these beach and summer memories are giving me all the feels.
These were from 2019.
And here is 2020.
Here we are in 2021.
2022
2023
And Last Year… Time is a thief.
3. What I’m Loving:
We have had a really busy month, but when we get the chance, I’m loving these easy mornings. When I can just wake up and not have to get ready and drink my coffee slowly while reading my book.
4. What We’ve Been Up To:
We started off the month celebrating my Papa’s 95th birthday!
We have been enjoying lots of pool time.
We celebrated Emma with a Graduation party!
We celebrated Nolan’s 8th birthday!!
I have loved having lots of girl time with my best girl!
I’ve met up with lots of friends.
We enjoyed a week of Church Revival.
And, we had a great week at the beach. I will share more on our vacation in a later post. 🙂
5. What I’m Dreading:
I’m not really dreading anything right now. 😉 Just slow down summer!
6. What I’m Working On:
I’m working on reading through my summer book list!
7. What I’m Excited About:
I am really excited about all the fun things we have planned next month!
8. What I’m Watching/Reading:
Earlier this month, I finished reading Great Big Beautiful Life, and I enjoyed it! It’s cute and there’s tension between two main characters. There was some mystery and romance and a definite surprise at the end! I highly recommend reading it!
Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: to write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the twentieth century.
When Margaret invites them both for a one-month trial period, after which she’ll choose the person who’ll tell her story, there are three things keeping Alice’s head in the game.
One: Alice genuinely likes people, which means people usually like Alice—and she has a whole month to win the legendary woman over.
Two: She’s ready for this job and the chance to impress her perennially unimpressed family with a Serious Publication.
Three: Hayden Anderson, who should have no reason to be concerned about losing this book, is glowering at her in a shaken-to-the core way that suggests he sees her as competition.
But the problem is, Margaret is only giving each of them pieces of her story. Pieces they can’t swap to put together because of an ironclad NDA and an inconvenient yearning pulsing between them every time they’re in the same room.
And it’s becoming abundantly clear that their story—just like the tale Margaret’s spinning—could be a mystery, tragedy, or love ballad . . . depending on who’s telling it.
Carley Fortune is always a favorite summer author ever since I read her debut title, Every Summer After, year’s ago. I was hooked. I always get her newest books every year and look forward to them. I’m about 3/4 way through, One Golden Summer. I think it’s funny that both of my books have Alice as a main character. I am enjoying reading this book. It’s not holding my attention as much as some of her books have, but I am liking it. I can’t wait to see how it ends. Every chapter is a countdown to her last days at the lake.
Good things happen at the lake. That’s what Alice’s grandmother says, and it’s true. Alice spent just one summer there at a cottage with Nan when she was seventeen—it’s where she took that photo, the one of three grinning teenagers in a yellow speedboat, the image that changed her life.
Now Alice lives behind a lens. As a photographer, she’s most comfortable on the sidelines, letting other people shine. Lately though, she’s been itching for something more, and when Nan falls and breaks her hip, Alice comes up with a plan for them both: another summer in that magical place, Barry’s Bay. But as soon as they settle in, their peace is disrupted by the roar of a familiar yellow boat, and the man driving it.
Charlie Florek was nineteen when Alice took his photo from afar. Now he’s all grown up—a shameless flirt, who manages to make Nan laugh and Alice long to be seventeen again, when life was simpler, when taking pictures was just for fun. Sun-slanted days and warm nights out on the lake with Charlie are a balm for Alice’s soul, but when she looks up and sees his piercing green gaze directly on her, she begins to worry for her heart.
Because Alice sees people—that’s why she is so good at what she does—but she’s never met someone who looks and sees her right back.
I haven’t really been watching anything too consistently. However, I did start re-watching Outer Banks. I never finished the last season, so I’m trying to catch up.
9. What I’m Listening To:
Not a thing at the moment.
10. What I’m Wearing:
I’m still wearing all the things from Shop Avara.
The colors on this Alysia dress are gorgeous, and I’m loving it for summer and all our vacation trips! The details and pattern are so good! And pockets… need I say more?
And I love the dainty, tied sleeves. I ordered a medium.
These shorts from Shop Avara have been getting me all the compliments.
Look at the color! So darling. And they have pockets and elastic. What more could you ask for? It goes oh so well with my Amazon tank!

I still LOVE this Aerie Oversized Crochet Short Sleeve Sweater. I love that you can throw it on over a bathing suit as a cover up, or you can dress it up and wear different colors underneath it. It’s definitely an oversized fit. You could size down.
I still love this Eyelet Tank. It’s just an easy top to throw on. I will note, the tiny holes are true holes, but with a skin colored bra, you don’t have to wear an undershirt. However, if you’re concerned with that, you can always throw on an undershirt.
11. What I’m Doing This Weekend:
We have tickets to go watch the Rome Braves with Joey’s family.
12. What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
Another vacation, celebrating the 4th, and spending more time with family and friends really trying to soak up my summer time!
13. Favorite Amazon Find:
We are traveling next month, and I feel like you can’t ever be too safe. I ordered this Carbon Monoxide detector to help with peace of mind.
14. What Else Is New:
That’s it!
Thanks for stopping by! See you back here on Friday!
