**Hello Monday** {1.9.2023}

Happy Monday friends! I am officially back to school today. We had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed every minute of it. I’m glad to be back with you all for a New Year!

I’m linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday and sharing a recap of our weekend.

Friday, Joey was off work with us. We got up early and headed to the Waffle House. Then, we started driving North East toward Tallulah Gorge. It was a beautiful day! We stopped by an overlook, before driving in the park, to see what we were getting into. Joey was very excited. Me, not so much. I don’t like heights.

We started out. Addison always feels she has to be the leader. We always try to run ahead and hold her back. It becomes a funny game.

Joey mapped us out a “moderate” trail. There were some parts I would not have labeled as moderate, I would have said strenuous.

There were lots of overlook spots along the trails.

Reminder… I don’t like heights. Getting to the edge makes me very queasy feeling. Joey and Addison are all for the heights.

Here we are about to start the strenuous part. Holy Moly at the stairs. And, the thing about it is, once you go down the stairs, you have to come back up stairs. 620 steps down.

Then, we came up to the bridge. Which I did not like at all. It was moving. I almost crawled across.

I did psyche myself up enough to take a couple pictures in the middle.

Once we were across the bridge, we had to began the trek up the stairs. Holy leg burn. I had to stop a few times to get my legs to stop shaking.

And, we finally made it to the top and started back around toward where we parked.

Here’s an overlook picture of where we started, and where we had to get back to. Luckily, this part, you just had to go around the rim at the top.

We made it back to our car then headed to this cute General Store that my hair stylist, Autumn, told me about in Lakemont. We all got delicious sandwiches.

I went ahead and gave Joey his birthday card. His birthday is next weekend. He’s going to be the big 40! I was surprising him with a little getaway, so I had to let him know he needed to be packing. He was excited!

On the way back, Joey stopped by Starbucks to get us a coffee. If you know him at all, he despises Starbucks. You can tell how happy he is to go here. Ha! 😉

On the drive, I started reading Confess. It’s awesome so far! Colleen Hoover is one of my new favorite authors. Have you read any of her books? What is your favorite?

Saturday, we worked around here cleaning and organizing. That night, we headed to Olive Garden for some carbs and pasta. A little Rock, Paper, Scissors was played while we waited.

Saturday night, Addison had a little fashion show for us. 🙂 She is too much.

Sunday, Joey ran a 50k trail run. Addison and I worked on some sight word practice. We read some, played lots of Guess Who and Hide & Seek. I also did a lot of meal prep for the week and a little bit of reading myself. The weather was yucky!

Joey’s race started at 8 am. He called about 2:30 saying he finished. He also said he thought he might die and probably didn’t have any toenails left. Yea, I am sure I would have already died if I tried to run all that.

Our old griddle bit the dust, so we snagged this one by Drew Barrymore from Walmart, and it’s beautiful!
