**Destin Vacation 2023** {7.26.2023}

Side note: So, since starting back to school/work this week, I obviously have lost track of the dates. I will plan to share my What’s up Wednesday post next week. So, be sure to come back here then for that. 😉

Today, I’m doing a recap of our most recent vacation. I’ll warn you, today’s post is long because I’m trying to do it all in one post. So, settle in and grab an iced coffee.

We went to Miramar Beach, Florida which is just a couple miles from Destin, if you’re familiar.

We left fairly early on a Wednesday morning headed south. If you’re familiar with Atlanta traffic, you know it’s crazy no matter what time of day. So, anytime we have to drive through, we try to go early in the morning.

We stopped in Newnan at the CFA for breakfast.

We arrived around lunchtime. They are an hour behind us.

We stayed at Camp Gulf which is really nice, and it’s right on the beach. Some sites are actually in the sand. I couldn’t deal with that mess, but to each their own.

We only had this site for one night then we had to move the next day. Our site wasn’t available for the entirety of the trip. This campground gets booked up over a year in advance.

Here is our site for the night. It was nice, closer to the beach, but it was a lot more narrow than our second site.

Once we were semi set up, we walked to the beach. The skies were looking a little ominous. And the rain eventually arrived.

We ate dinner at Buffalo Jacks in Destin. They had pizza, wings, bar type food. It was really good!

Being our first night, we went to Crumbl cookies to grab a few. #iykyk

And, we stopped by the surf shop to grab a new boogie board.

We took a little walk on the beach, walked around the park, and headed in for an early night.

There are glamping tents you can rent that look really cute.

One of the negative things about this campground is the beach front property is not wide enough. It’s surrounded by private beach property. So, if you want to get a front spot at the water, you have to have your things down around 5 am. Which I think is crazy!

So, every morning, Joey would get up and go put our chairs and an umbrella up, so we could have front row. I wanted to be able to see Addison in the water.

We stayed on the beach for a few hours and eventually got pelted with rain and had to chill in the camper for a bit.

It was fine because we had to get ready to move sites.

Here is our new site. I liked it much better. I felt like I actually had some room to walk around the camper.

Take note of the pop up tent over the picnic table.

That night, Joey and Addison took me to Seaside to one of my favorite little restaurants, The Great Southern Cafe. It’s sooo good! And, we have so many fun memories here.

Their grits are amazing! I got the grouper ya ya and Joey got the grits a ya ya (the original with shrimp). So much fun!

We stopped by Blue Mountain Creamery on the way back to grab a sweet treat.

We got back and took another walk on the beach. The sky was so pretty!

So, during the night, it came a flood. I tried to wait for it to slow down, so I could check the pop up tent. It didn’t stop for about 2 hours. By the time I looked out, our pop up tent was already folded in on itself and pretty much broken.

The next morning, we threw away the mangled mess. 🙁

The beginning part of our week wasn’t so good as far as weather. Friday, we ended up going to Bass Pro, while it rained, to check things out.  We watched them feed the eel and fish.

We went to eat at Dewey’s of Destin on the Harbor. We sat on the covered patio. It had a beautiful view, and the food was great!

After dinner, we strolled down the boardwalk at the harbor. We were admiring the large yachts for sale.

After dinner, we rushed back to get in some beach time.

First book of the week: The Five- Star Weekend

After the beach, Joey and Addison headed to the pool.

Saturday morning, the weather was finally good enough to eat breakfast outside. Yay!

Addison met some friends.

After playing at the beach for a while, she headed up to the pool to do the water slide.

(There are two pools)

Saturday night, we went to dinner in Destin at Mcguire’s Irish Pub. It’s pretty famous.

There were so many boats in the harbor.

The bread was delicious! Addison wanted a picture of her food. Haha!

We left there and stopped by another surf shop.

Addison begged for ice cream. Why not? We’re on vacation.

Our new site is up in the top part of the park. This is a picture showing the bottom part of the park, closest to the beach. Some of the sites flood. So you should be mindful of that.

Addison and I were on a bike ride Sunday  morning.

We headed to the beach, and it was a gorgeous day!

At this point, I was reading my second book: Same Time Next Summer

I loved this one!

We headed to the Surf Hut for an early dinner. We, again, sat on the covered patio. It was hot but had a beautiful view!

Monday, was our last day, and this day we had the best weather.

Look how beautiful and clear the water and beach are.

It was so hot, I had to have my mini fan. Ha!

Same Time Next Summer

Our last night, we ate dinner at Pompano Joes. Love my sweet girl!

Addison and I got smoothies.

My dinner was delicious! Love some good seafood!

We had another beautiful view as we ate dinner.

The next morning, we were packed up, loaded and heading home around 9. We got home around 4 and had a great time despite the weather being a little rainy. I love all the time and memories made with my family.

If you have any other questions, please reach out!

I’ll see you back here on Friday for our favorites from the week!
