**Vacation Recap Fall Break J. Beach** {10.4.2023}
A couple weeks ago we had a week off for our Fall Break. That seems like a lifetime ago even though it was only two weeks.
We headed to Florida to visit family and enjoy some beach time as well. My parents and I all went together with our campers.
We left early Saturday morning. I felt like we were having a little de’ja vu because we were only about 30 minutes from home, in downtown Atlanta, in the dark, when one of Dad’s camper tires blew. So, they were scrunched against the wall with a lot of traffic flying by, in the dark. It was a little nerve racking.
But, all was good, and we headed on our merry way.
However, probably 4 hours into our trip, another one of their tires blew. So crazy… These tires are supposed to last 10 years, very highly rated, and only about 5 years old. Unfortunately, they did not last even with major care and maintenance.
Our spare wouldn’t fit on their camper. So, we had to leave Mom & Dad’s camper and try to find an open tire dealer. Thank you Mavis Tire for being open and having the right tire size.
What is supposed to be about a 6 to 7 hour drive, turned into about 10 hours. We were exhausted when we got there.
We got set up, cooked some hot dogs with sides and relaxed until bedtime.
Joey & Addison played a little Go Fish.
The next day, the weather was beautiful, and we headed to the beach. There was a hurricane/storm off the coast, and it was sending in huge waves and lots of shells.
That evening, we got cleaned up after lots of scrubbing to get all the little shell pieces out, and we headed to meet my Aunt Linda and Dad’s cousin, Patricia & Jim who were driving through from South Florida back to Tennessee.
We made a pit stop in a few shops. Addison did some relaxing. 😉
Cheesin’ as they waited for food.
It was really good to see lots of family.
The campground we stay at has beautiful moss on the trees, and we love to walk in the morning.
Our plans were to meet up with some friends later, so we didn’t have a lot of time. However, we wanted to get in as much fun time as possible.
Addison wanted to check out the splash pad.
And the zip line.
Then, we headed to the beach. The campground joins Mayport, a Naval base. There were lots of Navy men and women doing practice activities. It was really fun watching them shoot flares and do rescue practice in the water.
That afternoon we headed North to meet up with our friends. We decided to take the ferry there. Always fun.
The sky and water were beautiful on our drive up the coast.
The architecture and many buildings are beautiful in Fernandina beach, on Amelia Island.
We arrived a little early, so we walked around a bit and hopped in some shops.
We met up with friends for dinner then enjoyed walking around a bit more after.
Everyone wanted ice cream, so we went to find some.
Then we said our goodbyes and started the hour long drive back. The sunset was beautiful.
The next morning, I had a little peaceful time to read a bit. This book was great! Things We Leave Unfinished
We headed to the beach again because why not. Another gorgeous, fun day.
That night, we met up with my Aunt Linda and cousin Kathy for seafood. Addison was enjoying all the attention and being extra silly.
After dinner, we headed for some ice cream and found this interesting spot. The ice cream was all homemade, and you could also get any flavor into a sandwich. Mine was good, but I think I would try something different next time.
Another beautiful sunset on the way home. The sun was huge.
We got back in the campground, right before the sun dropped. We were able to snap a few pictures out at the beach.
The next morning, we had a nice bike ride around the park.
We enjoyed some more sun and fun at the beach. Kathy even joined us.
After getting cleaned up, we headed to meet Aunt Linda for some Mexican food.
Addison was a great photographer. 🙂
Our last day, the weather had called for a lot of storms and rain. However, we woke up to beautiful skies and sunshine. I was glad they were wrong. I snapped a lot of pictures of the lake which was just a few hundred feet from our campsite.
We were going to Aunt Linda’s house later, so I didn’t want us to get really sandy. We compromised by letting Addison go to the splash pad for a bit.
Almost everyday, we saw teachers bring their students to the park or to the beach. What a big liability but also what fun to go to the beach everyday with your class.
One more trip down the zip line.
We got cleaned up and headed to Aunt Linda’s house. Addison worked on a sticker puzzle book.
After hanging for a while, we all went to dinner. Addison was being the jokester again.
The next morning, we had to pack up and head back North to Georgia. I snapped one more picture before we crossed the Dames Point Bridge. It’s always a beautiful sight!
That’s it for our trip. And, I saw these meme, and it describes me completely. haha!
Thanks for reading friends! I’ll see you back here on Friday!
