**Camper Prep** {4.10.2024}
A lot of people have asked questions about our camper. So, today, I’m sharing…. I’m also sharing how we prep for a camping trip.
Here are a few pics of the outside of our 5th wheel camper on some past camping trips. It’s a big one- 42 feet long and has 4 slide outs.
Joey has to do a lot of outside prep. I don’t really have pictures of that. I did snap a few pics of the under compartments where we have loaded them.
He always has to scrub and treat the roof. He washes the entire camper and then waxes it. He has to check the tires and wheels and compound them with grease- whatever that means. Haha! He also checks many different things to make sure they’re in working order like the slide outs and the awnings. He makes sure the propane bottles are full.
We typically put Damp Rid inside, over the Winter months, and when it’s not in use. When we opened it up, a few weeks back from the Winter closure, it smelled a little musty. So, we stuck the dehumidifier inside to do its thing.
Before I start loading things inside for our trip, I always do a deep clean. I dust, I wipe things down, I vacuum, I mop.
Then, I start bringing things out. Here are pictures of our pantry. I just restock our paper products. Then, I typically leave the food in bags, or the containers, just so they don’t spill out everywhere. We do have to tie up our pantry doors before we start driving, to ensure things don’t fall and bust.
I go ahead and turn the refrigerator and freezer on and start filling it up too.
Then I start taking out clothes to our closets.
I also have learned it’s best to go ahead and make our bed ahead of time, right before we leave. That way when we get there, I’m not grumpy and tired.
I bring out medicine that we may need (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, ear/eye drops, Nausea meds) and make sure I have bandaids.
There are also locks on doors throughout that you have to make sure are locked before you start traveling or things can bust and break. We, unfortunately learned that the hard way when our glass shower door didn’t completely lock on a previous trip, and when we arrived back home, the glass had shattered everywhere.
I leave some things in the camper, all the time, like towels, blankets, and pots/pans.
That’s pretty much it. Once Joey gets ready to hook up, we have to close the slide outs, turn everything off, and put up the stairs. Then, he hooks up to the truck and we are ready to go.
