*What’s Up Wednesday* {January 2020 Edition}
It’s the last Wednesday of the month. On this day, I link up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer. I will share a little bit of everything that’s been going on with us lately. Can you believe a month in 2020 is almost over? Crazy!!
1. What We Are Eating This Week:
Sunday: Chicken Fried Chicken, Lima Beans, Stewed Potatoes, Butternut Squash
Monday: Brunswick Stew *We needed something easy because we had dance, and Joey was working late, so I grabbed this out of our freezer from where I had made it a few months back*
Tuesday: Chicken Enchiladas with Refried beans and lots of toppings- salsa, sour cream, etc… I don’t like a red sauce on my enchiladas, so if you’re like me and are interested in the recipe, message me. They are delicious! You won’t regret it.
Wednesday: Sesame Chicken with fried rice
Thursday: Leftover Chicken Enchiladas
Friday: Kitchen’s closed! Date Night!
Saturday: Joey’s taking Addison out for Daddy/Daughter Date Night, so I’m having a girls night out!
2. What I’m Reminiscing About:
This memory popped up from a year ago…. Look at how adorable and little they were. They grow up way too fast! 🙁
This memory popped up from 2 years ago… Wow! Our babies were so little. Sweet babies #bestiesforlife
3. What I’m Loving:
I’m still loving Disney+. If you don’t have it, I would highly recommend it!!
I’m also really loving our new family pictures. I’ll go ahead and share some with you all.
Another favorite thing that I absolutely love is my Kindle Paperwhite. I feel like I can breeze through books so much quicker. Anyone else? I feel like since getting the Kindle, I’m reading so much more. I also love how I can just add a book with just the click of a button. #dangerous I don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail or go to buy it at a store. The only con I’ve seen is that I can’t quickly flip back to a page if I want to reread something that I’m confused about. I’d have to touch the screen until I find it.
4. What We’ve Been Up To:
In the winter months, everything moves at such a slower pace. I do enjoy these slower days/weekends, however, I don’t care at all for the cold weather. I’m one of those people that wants it to snow once, for like one day and then be summer again.
A few weekends ago, we got a new bed and then went to Helen, GA for a little day trip. You can read all about it here.
We also celebrated our favorite guy’s birthday all month. We made him a yummy cake.
5. What I’m Dreading:
I’m not really dreading anything right now. 😉
6. What I’m Working On:
I’m working on school work and this blog post….
I’m also working on some shopping for Valentine’s Day for my students and family. I ordered this cotton candy for my students and these cute, rainbow erasers from Amazon. I’m going to slide them into clear gift bags and staple this adorable card on top. Thank you Andrea for the cute idea!! #done
7. What I’m Excited About:
I am really excited about a little break coming up in February. We may go for a little weekend getaway, but nothing all week. I also have planned to go see my besties and their sweet babies one day, so I can’t wait to love on them.
I am also really excited about doing all kinds of Valentine things for Addison. I ordered us some new Valentine books like The Day it Rained Hearts and Bagel in Love. She has loved reading them. I also have some heart cut-outs in pink, purple, and red. I plan to write little words/phrases on her door every day beginning February 1st sharing little things about her that we love, or how she shows kindness, etc…
8. What I’m Watching/Reading:
So now that all the shows have started back up from the Fall, I’ve been watching more TV than I had been. Of course most of the time, it’s a day or so later on DVR.
I had to start the new season of the Bachelor. I just don’t think I can give up that kind of drama. Ha! I’m enjoying Peter the Pilot but am over some of the girls’ drama and cattiness. However, I know that makes good television for some. I do love Peter’s family and how kind and loving he is. Every time they show previews for the finale, I think what is going to happen?!? Please just tell us!!! It takes a lot of strength for me not to google what’s going to happen….
I also started back watching This is Us. The first two episodes have been good, and I’m very intrigued to see what’s to come. #hereslookingatyouKevin
I’ve also been watching Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t really know why I continue to watch because it continues to disappoint and frustrate me, but I do. I guess it’s because I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’m not a quitter.
I’ve read some really good books lately. I read the “The Tattooist of Auschwitz: A Novel” It was Phenomenal!! I read it in like three days over break. It’s based on a true story. I love reading historical books like this, especially about the Holocaust. I have actually been to Auschwitz in Germany, so that made me want to read this even more. I would highly recommend this book!
***************************************************
I also read “The Mother-in-Law” by Sally Hepworth this month. The link from Amazon is here. I really enjoyed it. It was a little hard to follow with the switching back and forth from present to past and different characters. But the ending was unexpected. I was trying to think ahead, and use clues, but I was wrong. I would definitely recommend this one. It’s not what you think.
My latest book that I just finished was Night Road by Kristin Hannah. It was soooo good! I will warn you that it is dark and sad but turns around and has a great ending. I did cry multiple times throughout the book. I love Kristin Hannah books, so I would definitely recommend this one!
9. What I’m Listening To:
I have been listening to a lot of Amazon radio on my Alexa. We especially love to listen to Toddler Time Radio and all 90’s station on Amazon music.
10. What I’m Wearing:
I’ve been wearing this sweater from Nordstrom. It’s super soft and really comfortable. With free shipping and returns, Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop!
I ordered these shoes from Amazon. I love these to wear to school. They have a memory foam foot bed which is great for wearing all day. My feet don’t hurt one bit. They come in lots of other colors, but I wanted the Cheetah.
I ordered a few other things from Amazon this month. I ordered these two sweaters, and I think they will be perfect for Valentine’s day wear. I prefer not to wear red and would rather wear pink. So, these two were great choices for me.
The first one is here.
The second one is a chunky popcorn-like cardigan, here. I ordered it in the A-Pink and am very happy with it. It has over 3,000 ratings.
11. What I’m Doing This Weekend:
We have a few things planned. Addison may spend the night with my parents on Friday because we promised her. I’ll probably be doing laundry and cleaning. I would like to go look for some new throw pillows and new side lamps to match our new bed and bedding. We may visit some grandparents this weekend at some point if we can.
Saturday night, Joey and Addison have Daddy/Daughter Date night at CFA. Since that’s planned, me and some other Mama friends are going out for girls night. I’m excited for all of that!
12. What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
I’m looking forward to our little break next month and seeing some of my besties.
I’m also looking forward to doing Valentine’s activities/crafts with Addison.
13. What Else is New:
Addison has been waking up during the night, screaming and terrified. She says she’s scared but won’t really tell us exactly what is scaring her. She was struggling going to sleep, but we ordered her this Unicorn nightlight from Amazon. She picked it out and was really excited about it. It has worked with her going to sleep, we are now struggling with her staying asleep all night. She wakes up screaming, and it takes her hours to go back to sleep. Eventually, we have just started dragging her to our bed. I don’t want it to become a habit, but we are tired. So, if anyone has any tips, I will gladly take them. This Mama is tired.
Thank you all for reading. I truly am thankful for all of you! I hope you have an awesome day!! See you back here on Friday!
xoxo

Your post is reminding me that I need to start thinking about Valentine’s Day. We just got back from a big vacation and I’ve been in “settling back into reality” mode but Valentine’s mode needs to pick up some steam! Also, I love that chunk pink cardigan — it’s so cute!!!

Thank you!! I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. 🙂

Glad to hear you are loving Disney+. My kids have been begging for it and I have been on the fence. I am currently reading a Kristin Hannah book as well. I have really loved some of her other books, but the one I’m reading now has gotten off to a slow start. I will have to try Night Road next.

We definitely love all the Disney! It has all the classics on there, as well as new ones. I loved the Great Alone by Kristin Hannah! I read that last year. I was thinking of reading Magic Hour because I haven’t ever read that one. Thanks for commenting! 🙂
