**Birthday Boys** {6.1.2020}

Happy Monday and Happy June 1st!! Tomorrow, June 2nd, is a very special day! It’s my sweet Papa’s 90th birthday! What makes it even more special, is that he and one of his older brother’s share the exact same birthday. His brother, my Great Uncle Bill is exactly 10 years older. So, tomorrow marks his 100th birthday! Wow! The two of them have seen a lot in their lifetimes.

So, today, I’m going down memory lane and sharing lots of pictures and memories.

He had 14 brothers and sisters. He’s so lucky that many of them are still living.

Growing up, we visited my Papa and Nanny often. We went on trips with them, vacationed with them, and just spent a lot of time together. We had so many memories together. I was very blessed to not live very far from them.

With my Nanny working at our elementary school, I spent most of my summers at their house. I learned lots of things including how to work a garden, spent lots of time listening to stories while stringing beans or shelling peas, and how to cook.

My Papa and Nanny didn’t go anywhere without the other one. They were so sweet together.

My Nanny, who I called everyday growing up, passed away from cancer in 2008, right before my College Graduation. I miss her everyday, but am so thankful for everything she taught me.

My grandparents had 5 children, 10 grandchildren and too many great-grandchildren to count. Lots of people always said I was their favorite. 😉

When I take Addison over to visit, I can definitely see my Papa just light up. She definitely keeps him young.

Here are some pictures of my Great Uncle Bill. Up until about a year ago, he still went to places to dance/shuffle. The ladies loved him! He was always a ladies man. He’s one of the sweetest guys I know. He is a Veteran. He was a Marine and fought in WWII.

My papa and his brothers/sisters just couldn’t take care of him as well anymore, so in the last year they moved him into an assisted living facility. He has been very happy there and made lots of friends. Last month, he contracted COVID-19. Being the fighter and high-spirited person that he is, he fought the virus and beat it!

Happy 90th Birthday to my Papa! Happy 100th Birthday to my Great Uncle Bill!! Enjoy your day boys!! Wish we could have a huge party to celebrate!

We are planning to do a surprise drive-by parade for my Papa tomorrow night.

xoxo
