**What’s Up Wednesday** {6.28.2023}

It’s the last Wednesday of the month. I am linking up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer and sharing what has been going on with us lately. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.

Settle in ya’ll because this one is a long one. 🙂

1. What We Are Eating This Week:

Sunday night we came in from vacation, so it was just a hodge podge of whatever we had.

Sunday: Hot dogs, pasta salad (see below), chips

Monday: Baked Pork Chops, Rice, Sautéed Zucchini/Squash from the garden

Tuesday: Out to eat with some girlfriends. Joey & Addison are on their own. 😉

Wednesday: BBQ chicken, corn salad, brussels sprouts

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Out to eat to celebrate Joey’s Dad’s birthday!!

Saturday: Kitchen’s closed!

2. What I’m Reminiscing About:

All these beach and summer memories are giving me all the feels.

These were from 2019,

And here is 2020.

Here we are in 2021.

And last year… such sweet memories.

3. What I’m Loving:

I am still loving my new breakfast table! I also just ordered this new light from Lamps Plus. I love it! I’ve just got to get some Edison style bulbs, and I’ll be good to go!

4. What We’ve Been Up To:

We started off the month celebrating my Papa’s 93rd birthday!

We have been enjoying lots of pool time.

I have loved having lots of girl time with my best girl!

I’ve met up with lots of friends.

We enjoyed a week of Church Revival.

And, we had a great week at the beach. I will share more on our vacation in a later post. 🙂

5. What I’m Dreading:

I’m not really dreading anything right now. 😉  Just slow down summer!

6. What I’m Working On:

I’m working on reading through my summer book list!

7. What I’m Excited About:

I am really excited about all the fun things we have planned next month.

8. What I’m Watching/Reading:

I finished  All Good People Here at the beginning of the month. It had a slow start for me, but once I continued to read, it quickly caught my attention. The ending was crazy and not how I thought it was going to end at all! I would highly recommend for a thriller/mystery.

All Good People Here

Next, I read “Things We Never Got Over” by Lucy Score. I read this one super quick despite it being a really long one. It really caught my attention, and I wanted to read all the time. I highly recommend this one. I will warn you, it is rated R. This one is a series, so make sure you read this one first. Here’s what Amazon has to say.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

Things We Never Got Over

Then I jumped to Christina Lauren’s The True Love Experiment. It was so cute, and I just loved everything about it. It’s pretty predictable, but it was still great! Actually, when I was almost finished reading it, I realized “The Soulmate Equation” went along with the characters in this book. So, I may need to check that one out too. I would highly recommend this one for a cute, easy read.

Felicity “Fizzy” Chen is lost. Sure, she’s got an incredible career as a beloved romance novelist with a slew of bestsellers under her belt, but when she’s asked to give a commencement address, it hits her: she hasn’t been practicing what she’s preached.

Fizzy hasn’t ever really been in love. Lust? Definitely. But that swoon-worthy, can’t-stop-thinking-about-him, all-encompassing feeling? Nope. Nothing. What happens when the optimism she’s spent her career encouraging in readers starts to feel like a lie?

Connor Prince, documentary filmmaker and single father, loves his work in large part because it allows him to live near his daughter. But when his profit-minded boss orders him to create a reality TV show, putting his job on the line, Connor is out of his element. Desperate to find his romantic lead, a chance run-in with an exasperated Fizzy offers Connor the perfect solution. What if he could show the queen of romance herself falling head-over-heels for all the world to see? Fizzy gives him a hard pass—unless he agrees to her list of demands. When he says yes, and production on The True Love Experiment begins, Connor wonders if that perfect match will ever be in the cue cards for him, too.

The True Love Experiment is the book fans have been waiting for ever since Fizzy’s debut in the New York Times bestselling The Soulmate Equation. But when the lights come on and all eyes are on her, it turns out the happily ever after Fizzy had all but given up on might lie just behind the camera.

The True Love Experiment

I am almost through Happy Place. It was moving a little slower than I thought, but then quickly picked up. It’s definitely a chick-lit, and my kind of perfect read for summer.

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.

They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blissful week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.

Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

9. What I’m Listening To:

Not a thing at the moment. Everyone is asleep.

10. What I’m Wearing:

The next two outfits are going to perfect for the 4th! And, if you order now, they will be in in time!

The next two tops are the same. I loved the detailing along the top, and the ruffles on the sleeves. I couldn’t decide between the navy and the red, so I just got them both. 🙂

And here is the same outfit just with the red top.

I also ordered this Eyelet Tank, but it hasn’t arrived yet. So, I don’t have a real life pic. However, I feel like it’s too cute to pass up. Give me a white top any day.

11. What I’m Doing This Weekend:

I don’t really know what we have planned for the weekend. But I’m sure we will find something fun to get into.

12. What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:

Another little beach trip, celebrating the 4th, and spending more time with family and friends really trying to soak up my summer time!

13. Favorite Amazon Find:

Oh my gosh!!! This Striped Beach Towel from Amazon has been such a great purchase! I love the color, and it’s super soft! It is extra large too, which is great for covering lounging chairs! Right now it’s on sale too! It comes in lots of color options, but I snagged it in pink!

14. What Else Is New:

If you made it this far, thank you! That is all!

Thank you all for reading. I am off to a Braves game! I hope you have an awesome day!! See you back here on Friday!
