**Let’s Look at……My Hometown** {5.11.2022}

Hey, Hey Wednesday!! How’s everyone doing on this May morning? I’m very excited because I’m linking up with Shay from MixandMatchMama and Erika from ALittleBitofEverything and chatting about my hometown. 🙂

I live in Canton, Georgia. It’s about 40 miles north of Atlanta and is pretty much Atlanta now considering how everything has grown. I grew up here, and the only time I left was to go to college about an hour away.

We currently have about 30,000 people in our city, but it continues to grow daily. When I grew up, we had one red light, a few places to shop, and just a handful of restaurants- most being family owned and operated. Now, we have most chain restaurants and still a few that are family owned. We have an abundance of places to shop and plenty of things to do.

Here’s the exit off of the main interstate to get to the downtown area.

Along the main road that winds to the downtown area, we have large, beautiful homes. Most have now been renovated. Some have been turned into different offices: lawyers, doctor’s, dentists, spa…

Starting in May, on the first Friday of each month, there are events in the downtown area. This past Friday was the first one of the year. We didn’t make it, unfortunately. But it’s always lots of fun when we do.

Every Saturday morning, starting in June, they also host a Farmer’s market in the downtown square. It’s always fun to get local produce and goods and support local businesses.

I took these pictures early on a Sunday morning. There wasn’t much going on at the time.

We have a cute ice cream shop in our downtown area. We love to go there and get some delicious ice cream with lots of fun flavors.

There are lots of boutiques and home stores. We love to walk and shop in each one.

We used to have this sandwich shop, R & M Hoagie. It was legendary. Unfortunately, the family sold a few years back, and it was just never the same. What I would give for another Hot Club with Fries.

A few years back, they started renovating the old Canton mill. Our town became popular in the early 1900’s with the denim/cotton factory. They have remodeled it and opened up lots of shops and restaurants now. We even had an ice skating rink at Christmas. There are so many events there almost every weekend. We have attended many. There is also a brewery and they have movies on the lawn often.

This picture was taken in the 50s.

We have a semi large river that flows through our town, the Etowah. It supplies water for our city and flows into Lake Allatoona. We also have lots of nice parks and enjoy going to play and walk.

Down at Etowah park, there are lots of festivals and events. One of the best ones is Riverfest in the Fall.

We also enjoy lots of parades. Like the 4th of July. One of my faves.

My Papa cruising in the parade.

There’s no doubt about it. I love my hometown. We do have lots of fun!

I can’t wait to hear all about your hometowns!
